Ferry piers on Ko Samui
On Ko Samui almost every operator has its own berth, and the names are similar. So check the berth on your ticket before you order a taxi. That applies especially to vehicles: Raja Ferry, which runs the car ferries from Donsak, names Lipa Noi, south of Nathon, as its berth for Ko Samui.
Nathon Pier
Nathon Pier on the west coast is the island's main berth for the mainland. From here you can reach 10 destinations, among them Donsak, Surat Thani and Surat Thani airport; together the services run up to 73 departures a day, with crossings of between 30 minutes and 5.5 hours. The pier is served by Lomprayah High Speed Ferries, Seatran Discovery, Seatran Ferry and Songserm. Nathon is in the Ang Thong subdistrict; Lomprayah keeps its office at the pier staffed during the day. Seatran Discovery lists Nathon as a check-in station of its own alongside Bangrak in the north-east - the two berths are not close together.
Mae Nam Pier
The berth in the north of the island, in the Maenam subdistrict, is called Pralarn Pier by Lomprayah. From here you can reach 11 destinations, among them Ko Phangan, Koh Tao and Chumphon, with up to 20 departures a day; crossings take between 30 minutes and 24.5 hours. The pier is served by Lomlahkkhirin and Lomprayah High Speed Ferries. Lomprayah serves three separate landing points on Ko Samui - besides Pralarn Pier also Nathon and Bangrak; which one applies to you is on your ticket. The office at Pralarn Pier is staffed daily from 7:00 to 21:00. Lomprayah's conditions of carriage state that passengers have to report to the office at least 60 minutes before departure and confirm their journey - even if you booked online, and even for the short crossing to Ko Phangan. No figure of its own is published for Lomlahkkhirin; it makes sense to allow the same lead time.
Bangrak Pier
Bangrak Pier in the north-east mainly serves the fast catamarans into the Gulf of Thailand. From here you can reach 10 destinations, among them Ko Phangan, Donsak and Surat Thani, with up to 78 departures a day; crossings take between 15 minutes and 7.75 hours. The pier is served by Lomlahkkhirin, Raja Ferry, Seatran Discovery and Songserm. Seatran Discovery gives the address of its check-in station as Bangrak Tourism Port, Moo 4 in the Bophut subdistrict. There is no terminal building in the European sense; you check in at the desk of the relevant operator.
