The ferry port of Koh Rong Samloem lies on the island of the same name in the Gulf of Thailand off Cambodia. From here you reach Sihanoukville, with a boat leaving up to 11 times a day. Depending on the pier, the crossing takes around 45 to 60 minutes. The operators are Buva Sea Cambodia, G.T.V.C Boat, Island Speed Ferry and Speed Ferry Cambodia.
Piers on Koh Rong Samloem
Koh Rong Samloem has no central harbour but several berths in different bays, and they are far apart. There are no roads in the usual sense, and not every operator calls at the same pier. So book exactly the berth closest to your accommodation.
Saracen Bay
The wide bay on the eastern side of the island faces the mainland and is the main landing point: a boat leaves for Sihanoukville up to 7 times a day, the crossing takes around 45 minutes, and the berth is served by Buva Sea Cambodia and G.T.V.C Boat. There are two piers in Saracen Bay alone: G.T.V.C uses the main pier, while Buva Sea and Island Speed Ferry drop their passengers near the Paradise Villas. The two sides of the bay are about twenty minutes apart along the beach — if you have booked here, find out beforehand which pier you will land at. Saracen Bay is also home to Orchid Pier: Buva Sea serves it up to 3 times a day, the crossing takes around 45 minutes and the fare is set by the state. From Saracen Bay you can walk to Sunset Beach, Lazy Beach and Military Beach.
Sandy Beach
Sandy Beach in the south of the island is served by Buva Sea Cambodia, up to 3 times a day. The crossing to Sihanoukville takes around 45 minutes.
Soon Noeng Port
Speed Ferry Cambodia departs from Soon Noeng Port up to 3 times a day. The crossing to Sihanoukville takes around an hour here.
M'Pai Bay
The fishing village of M'Pai Bay in the north has its own village pier, served by G.T.V.C and Buva Sea. From the other bays, M'Pai Bay can only be reached by water taxi.
Beaches without a berth
Lazy Beach is served by a separate slow boat from Sihanoukville. Sunset Beach has no berth at all: it is around 35 minutes on foot across the island from Saracen Bay, otherwise the only option is a longtail boat from M'Pai Bay.
On the mainland side
On the mainland the boats now leave from the Autonomous Port in Sihanoukville; the speedboats depart from the GTVC pier close by. The old pier on Serendipity Beach Road is out of service; older directions lead there for nothing. A slower supply boat departs from Pier 52 and takes many times as long for the same distance.
