Ferries to Nusa Lembongan

Nusa Lembongan is a small island off the south-east coast of Bali in Indonesia. The fast boats tie up at three places: on Jungutbatu beach, at Mushroom Bay and at the jetty in Telatak on the east coast. Check before booking which landing point your boat uses and how far your accommodation is from it, and arrange the transfer in advance. On the island you travel on by scooter, bicycle or buggy.

Jungut Batu

Most boats tie up on Jungutbatu beach. From here you can reach five destinations: Sanur on Bali in around 30 minutes, plus Padang Bai, and Bangsal on Lombok and the Gili islands of Gili Air and Gili Trawangan, together up to 31 departures a day, with crossings taking between 15 minutes and 2.5 hours. Six operators call at the berth, among them Arthamas Express, D'stars Fast Ferry and Dcamel Fast Ferry. There is no terminal building: the boats land on the beach, passengers wade through ankle- to knee-deep water, and the operators' offices stand on the beach accordingly - Setia Fast Ferry, for example, sits 50 metres before the steps up to the Batu Karang. Setia expects you at its own office on Lembongan 30 minutes before departure, and on the Bali side in Sanur 45 minutes before. The port of Sanur lies on Jalan Pantai Matahari Terbit in Sanur Kaja, in the east of Denpasar, is open daily from 6:00 to 18:00 and points out that the weather can shift the timetable; the operator reckons on about 45 minutes from Kuta and Seminyak, one and a half hours from Ubud, and it is 16 kilometres from Denpasar airport.

Mushroom Bay

Mushroom Beach is the island's second beach landing point. From here you can reach seven destinations, among them Bangsal, Gili Air and Gili Meno; the shortest crossing, to Padang Bai, takes 30 minutes. Together the services add up to as many as 7 departures a day, with crossings taking between 30 minutes and 3 hours. The berth is served by Bali Eka Jaya.

Telatak

Telatak is not the island's well-known landing place: the jetty lies in the village of the same name on the east coast, away from the beach spots of Jungutbatu and Mushroom Bay. Rocky Fast Cruise runs its own jetty here and serves it from the new harbour in Sanur, so you board and go ashore over a quay at both ends instead of wading through the water. Anyone travelling with a wheeled case, with children or with diving gear notices the difference at once. From Telatak you can reach four destinations, among them Sanur, Bangsal and Gili Air, together up to 23 departures a day; crossings take between 30 minutes and 3.5 hours. Besides Rocky Fast Cruise, Marlin Fast Boat, Sugriwa Express and Tanis Fast Cruise call at the port. The speedboat operators ask you to be at the harbour 30 to 60 minutes before departure, miss your boat and you will usually lose the fare or have to wait for the next departure.
