Aegean Sea Lines
The Greek shipping company Aegean Sea Lines sails between Piraeus and the Cyclades islands and was known as Aegean Speed Lines until 2022.
Aegean Sea Lines is a Greek ferry company based in Glyfada, founded in 2005 as a joint venture between Sea Containers and the Eugenides Group under the name Aegean Speed Lines. In 2009 the company was named Ferry Operator of the Year at the Lloyd's List Shipping Awards.
Aegean Sea Lines connects the port of Piraeus with the western Cyclades islands. Its routes run to Serifos, Sifnos, Milos and Kimolos, and seasonally to Ios and Santorini. Departures leave from Gate E2 in Piraeus, where the company's counter opens 90 minutes before departure.
The fleet consists of a single ship, the F/B Anemos, a cruise ferry with capacity for 1,700 passengers and 350 vehicles. The ship came to Greece from Finland and made its first call at Sifnos, since the company's owners hail from that island. Previously the company ran high-speed ferries such as the Speedrunner III and the Super Runner, which were sold due to high fuel costs.
Aegean Speed Lines was the first company in Greece, after the deregulation of the Greek ferry market, to run an EU-flagged ship on a domestic route. Onboard the Anemos, various seating categories and service areas are available. Cars, motorhomes and motorcycles can be carried.
