Anek Superfast

ANEK Lines was founded in 1967 by residents of Crete as a cooperative venture, after the ferry SS Heraklion, operated by Typaldos Lines, sank in December 1966 with the loss of more than 200 lives. In 2011 ANEK Lines and Superfast Ferries formed a joint venture, and in 2023 ANEK was acquired by the Attica Group.

Anek Superfast runs routes between Italy and Greece as well as domestic connections to Crete. The international routes link the Italian ports of Ancona, Venice and Bari with the Greek ports of Patras, Igoumenitsa and Corfu. On the domestic routes, Piraeus is connected with Chania and Heraklion on Crete.

The fleet includes several large ferries under both brand names. The Superfast fleet includes Superfast I, II, III, IV and XI. ANEK operates ships such as Olympic Champion, Hellenic Spirit, Kriti II, El Venizelos, Blue Horizon and Blue Galaxy. The Superfast I carries 938 passengers and 783 vehicles, the Superfast XI 1,821 passengers and 721 vehicles, and the Hellenic Spirit 1,850 passengers and 670 vehicles.

ANEK began operations in 1970 with the ship Kydon, sailing from Chania to Piraeus. Superfast Ferries was founded in 1993 by Pericles and Alexander Panagopulos. Both companies are now part of the Attica Group, alongside Blue Star Ferries and Hellenic Seaways. Onboard, cabins, restaurants and lounges are available.
