Kyushi Orange Ferry
Japanese operator Kyushu Orange Ferry runs routes between Shikoku and Kyushu, as well as overnight ferry services to Osaka.
Kyushu Orange Ferry runs the ferry connection between Shikoku and Kyushu with two ferries, Orange Shikoku and Orange Kyushu, which sail 7 times a day in each direction. The company is part of the Orange Ferry group and connects Yawatahama in Ehime (Shikoku) with Usuki in Oita (Kyushu).
The route between Yawatahama and Usuki takes 2 hours 25 minutes, with fares from 2,050 yen for foot passengers. Prices vary according to accommodation class and vehicle size. Passengers on Ship 102 can stay overnight on board and sleep until 7:00 (except Sundays), though all vehicles must be removed on arrival in Usuki at 5:15.
Orange Shikoku and Orange Kyushu offer spacious passenger accommodation across two decks: traditional Japanese tatami rooms, a reclining-seat lounge, a small number of premium cabins, and dormitories for long-distance drivers. All onboard purchases must be paid in cash, and there is no currency exchange.
Yawatahama port is about a 25-minute walk from JR Yawatahama Station (or 5 minutes by bus or taxi) and has no dedicated car park of its own. Usuki port has limited free parking. Alongside Kyushu Orange Ferry, Uwajima Unyu also runs ferries from Yawatahama to Beppu and Usuki.
