Akgünler Denizcilik is a Turkish ferry company based in Silifke that has offered sea transport services between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus since 1974. It is the largest passenger and freight shipping operator in the region and runs the only ferry link between Turkey and Cyprus.
Akgünler Denizcilik connects the Turkish port of Taşucu with Girne (Kyrenia) in Northern Cyprus. Ferries sail three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Departure from Taşucu is at 23:30, with the return sailing from Girne the next day at 14:00.
The fleet consists of three hydrofoils, also known as sea buses, and three conventional ferries. The hydrofoils carry between 170 and 386 passengers and are for foot passengers only. The crossing takes 2 hours 30 minutes by fast boat and around 6 hours by conventional ferry.
The conventional ferry Via Mare has capacity for 470 passengers and can carry 46 trucks or 260 cars. It reaches a top speed of 15 knots. Onboard there are 15 cabins with two or four berths, each with its own bathroom and toilet. The Via Mare sails year-round on the route between Taşucu and Girne.
