Camellia Line Co., Ltd. is a shipping company that operates a cargo-passenger ship between Hakata Port in Japan and Busan in South Korea. The company was established as a joint venture between Japan's NYK (Kinkai Yusen) and Korea's Koryo Shipping.
Camellia Line sails daily, year-round, between the Japanese port of Hakata in Fukuoka and the South Korean port of Busan. The roughly 209-kilometre route is covered in about 6 hours. From Hakata to Busan, the ferry departs at 12:30pm and arrives in Busan at 6:30pm. Boarding at Hakata Port runs from 10:30am to 11:30am.
From Busan, check-in runs from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, boarding is completed by 8:00pm, departure is at 10:30pm, arriving the next morning at 7:30am. This overnight crossing takes about 9 hours. The service runs 6 times a week, with frequency potentially increasing in high season.
Passengers should arrive at the terminal 90 minutes before departure for check-in, baggage handling and immigration procedures. Each passenger is allowed 30 kg of luggage free of charge. Prices range from about 74 to 344 US dollars, with the average fare for foot passengers around 151 dollars.
