Caronte & Tourist S.p.A. is a private shipping company based in Messina, Italy, formed in 2003 through the merger of the historic shipping lines Caronte from Calabria and Tourist Ferry Boat from Sicily, both of which began operations in 1965. For more than 50 years the group has connected Sicily with the mainland.

Caronte & Tourist operates a fleet of 26 ferries linking Sicily, the Italian mainland and the smaller islands. Its two main routes across the Strait of Messina connect Messina with Villa San Giovanni, with a crossing time of about 20 minutes. On the mainland the company serves the ports of Naples, Salerno and Villa San Giovanni, and in Sicily Messina, Milazzo, Palermo, Pantelleria, Porto Empedocle, Trapani and Ustica.

The company offers daily connections to the Aeolian Islands (Alicudi, Filicudi, Lipari, Panarea, Salina, Stromboli and Vulcano) as well as to the Aegadian Islands and the Pelagie Islands. Prices for the Messina-Villa San Giovanni route start at about 8 euros for adults in deck class.

On board Caronte & Tourist ferries there are self-service bars, cafés and restaurants. The ships offer Wi-Fi throughout the crossing. The company is committed to sustainability and has introduced environmentally friendly innovations such as LNG-powered ferries, which significantly cut emissions.
