Catalina Express is the leading ferry service to Catalina Island off the coast of Southern California, carrying more than a million passengers a year. The island lies just 35 kilometres off the coast and can be reached in about an hour.

Catalina Express operates year-round, with up to 30 daily departures from three ports: San Pedro, Long Beach and Dana Point. The crossing from Long Beach to Avalon takes about 1 hour, from San Pedro about 1 hour 15 minutes, and from Dana Point about 1 hour 30 minutes. San Pedro also offers connections to Two Harbors on the island's west side, popular with outdoor and boating enthusiasts.

The fleet consists of 8 high-speed vessels. San Pedro and Long Beach offer direct freeway access and are close to Los Angeles or Anaheim. Dana Point is ideal for travellers from South Orange County and San Diego and is located in the scenic Dana Point Harbor.

Round-trip tickets cost 92 US dollars for adults, including an 8-dollar island landing fee and taxes. Passengers should arrive 60 minutes before departure to allow enough time for check-in and parking instructions. Reservations are recommended.
