Every route operated by Eckerö Linjen at a glance, with current crossing times, timetables and ticket prices.
Eckerö Linjen is a Finnish shipping company headquartered in Mariehamn that has operated ferry services between the Åland Islands and Sweden since 1961. The company belongs to the Åland-based Rederiaktiebolaget Eckerö and offers the shortest ferry connection between Sweden and Åland.
The route links the port of Berghamn in Eckerö on the Åland Islands with Grisslehamn in Sweden. At a distance of around 44 kilometres, this is the shortest ferry connection between Sweden and Åland - the crossing takes just two hours, significantly shorter than competing routes.
The fleet consists of the M/S Eckerö, a passenger and vehicle ship built in 1979 and later extensively modernised. The ferry carries up to 1,500 passengers and about 267 vehicles. Since 2009, the ship has sailed under the Swedish flag, with Grisslehamn as its home port. The M/S Roslagen serves as an additional vessel during the summer season.
Depending on the season, the M/S Eckerö sails two to three times daily between Grisslehamn and Eckerö. The company should not be confused with its sister company Eckerö Line, which operates ferry services between Helsinki and Tallinn. The Åland Islands belong to Finland, but due to their proximity to Sweden, the majority of locals speak Swedish as their mother tongue.
