Express Bahari is an Indonesian ferry operator that has carried locals and tourists between the country's various islands since 1990. The company has expanded its fleet to 20 modern passenger vessels, providing fast, safe and comfortable crossings.
Express Bahari serves Sumatra, Java, the Belitung Islands, East Nusa Tenggara, Rote, Madura, Kangean Island, Bawean Island and Tidung Island. The Muntok-Palembang ferry runs 3 times a week with a crossing time of about 3 hours. The dedicated fast ferry between Jepara and Karimunjawa offers air-conditioned coach seating. Tickets for the two-hour crossing cost 150,000 Rupiah (Executive) and 175,000 Rupiah (VIP), plus a 25,000 Rupiah national park fee for foreigners.
In July 2025, Express Bahari II launched a new service between Banyuwangi (East Java) and Denpasar, cutting the crossing time to 2.5 hours from 6 hours by road. The ferry sails 6 days a week, departing Banyuwangi at 9:00 and arriving at 11:30 on Serangan island in Bali.
The ferry offers 406 seats: 60 in the VIP lounge (2-3-2 layout) and 346 in Executive class (3-3-3 layout), with air conditioning, toilets and life jackets. Tickets cost 275,000-325,000 IDR for foreigners. In an eco-friendly approach, no food or drinks are sold on board to reduce waste. Tickets are available at the port or through the Express Bahari app.
