Hankyu Ferry is an established Japanese ferry company, founded in 1966, which launched Japan's first long-distance ferry service in 1968. The company connects Kyushu with the Kansai region and offers luxury overnight ferry services through the scenic Seto Inland Sea.
Hankyu Ferry runs daily services between Shinmoji (Kitakyushu, Kyushu) and Kobe, as well as between Shinmoji and Izumiotsu (south of Osaka). The crossing through the Seto Inland Sea takes about 12.5 hours and passes through breathtaking scenery. From Kobe, ferries depart from the Rokko Island Ferry Terminal; from Osaka, from Izumiotsu Port.
The fleet comprises four ships: Izumi, Hibiki, Yamato and Tsukushi, with capacities ranging from 643 to 667 passengers. The "Izumi" and "Hibiki", introduced in 2015, are designed as floating hotels. The "Settsu" and "Yamato" are seven-storey ships with a multi-level atrium lobby and various room types.
Accommodation ranges from "Standard" (shared rooms) through "Deluxe" (private rooms) and "Suite" (with bath and toilet) to "Royal" (with a private deck). Facilities include an outdoor bath, a large bath and shower rooms. The ferries carry both passengers and vehicles, offering a relaxed alternative to the Shinkansen.
