Jadrolinija is a Croatian state ferry company founded on 20 January 1947 in Rijeka. Its roots go back to 1872, when a shipping line from Rijeka to Senj was established. Today the company carries more than 12 million passengers and 3 million vehicles a year.
Jadrolinija connects most Croatian islands with the mainland through regular passenger and car ferry services along the Croatian coast. Domestic routes run from the coastal towns of Rijeka, Zadar, Šibenik, Split and Dubrovnik to the islands. The most popular fast-ferry route is Split to Hvar. International connections link Croatia and Italy on the routes Zadar-Ancona, Split-Ancona and Dubrovnik-Bari.
The fleet comprises 57 vessels: 12 fast ferries (catamarans), 4 conventional ferries and 41 RoRo ships. Total capacity is 4,708 vehicles and 32,364 passengers. Key vessels include Marko Polo and Dalmacija on the Italy routes, and the Korčula, completed in 2017, with room for 700 passengers and 170 vehicles.
In November 2025 the company announced a 280 million euro loan to build around ten new ships running on alternative fuels such as biodiesel, green methanol or electric propulsion. The first new vessels are expected to enter service in late 2027 or early 2028. Onboard facilities vary by ship.
