Marue Ferry, also known as A-Line Ferry, was founded in 1953 and operates ferry services between Kagoshima and Okinawa via the Amami Islands. The company alternates on this route with Marix Line, offering an almost identical travel experience.
The main route runs from Kagoshima Shinko Port via several stops to Naha (Okinawa): Kagoshima - Naze (Amami Oshima) - Kametoku - Wadomari - Yoron - Motobu - Naha. The full crossing from Kagoshima to Naha takes about 26 hours. The ferry leaves Kagoshima at 18:00 and is scheduled to reach Naze on Amami Oshima at around 5:00 the next morning, before arriving in Naha at around 19:00.
The fleet includes the Ferry Akebono and Ferry Naminoue, which operate on this route. The ferries offer various comfort classes across several decks, from shared sleeping areas to private cabins with en-suite bathrooms.
