Pukwan Ferry was founded in 1965, when the company opened the first car ferry route between Korea and Japan. Today the company is regarded as a leader in Korean car ferry transport and makes a significant contribution to the national economy, social development and a thriving tourism industry. In Japan the line operates under the name "Kampu Ferry".

Pukwan Ferry sails daily between Shimonoseki, at the western tip of the main island of Honshu, and the South Korean ferry port of Busan. The crossing is made up to 6 times a week, with a journey time of around 10 hours 45 minutes. The overnight ferry leaves Busan at 21:00 and arrives in Shimonoseki at 7:45 the next morning - a way of travelling that saves both time and overnight accommodation costs.

Two ships alternate on the route: Seonghee and Hamayuu. Various amenities are available on board for a comfortable and stress-free journey.

Pukwan Ferry is the only company in Korea to hold the AEO certification for comprehensive security management. The Busan-Shimonoseki ferry route has a long history: a ferry service between these cities began as early as 1905, playing an important role in connecting Korea and Japan.
