Rottnest Express is an established ferry operator with 60 years of reliable service, connecting Fremantle and Perth City with the popular holiday destination of Rottnest Island in Western Australia. The company runs frequent services to the island year-round.
Rottnest Express departs from several points: Perth Barrack Street Jetty, Fremantle B Shed and Northport Terminal. From Perth the crossing takes about 1 hour 15 minutes, from Fremantle only around 25-30 minutes. The ferries dock at the main jetty in Thomson Bay, just a few hundred metres from the visitor centre.
The company offers various package options, including the Perth Premium Ferry Service with free hotel pick-up, refreshments during the river journey along the Swan River, and wine and cheese tasting on the return trip.
It's recommended to book tickets online in advance, as they can sell out quickly at peak times - especially during the summer months, on weekends and during school holidays. The Rottnest Island admission fee is included in the fare and helps maintain the facilities of the Class A nature reserve.
