Seatran Discovery, formerly known as Seatran Ferry, is a Thai high-speed ferry company relaunched under its new name in 2004. The company connects Koh Samui with Koh Phangan, Koh Tao and the mainland port of Donsak.
Ferries run several times a day between Bangrak Seatran Pier on Koh Samui and Thong Sala on Koh Phangan. From Koh Samui, ferries depart at 9:30am and 2:30pm; from Koh Phangan at 10:30am and 4:00pm. The crossing takes around 45 minutes, with a fare of 330-371 THB per adult.
The modern fleet of passenger ferries has comfortable seating and air-conditioned cabins. On board are TVs showing news and entertainment, a mini-mart, a massage area, clean toilets, and an upper deck with views.
Check-in should be completed at least 30 minutes before departure; counters close 15 minutes before the scheduled departure. Luggage storage is available at most piers for a small fee. In rough seas, Seatran Discovery ferries are considered more comfortable than catamarans, as they cut through the waves rather than riding on top of them.
