Smyril Line is a Faroese shipping company that has operated a regular international passenger, car and freight service with the MS Norröna since 1983. The company offers the only way to travel with your own car between Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Iceland.

The MS Norröna sails between Hirtshals (Denmark), Tórshavn (Faroe Islands) and Seyðisfjörður (Iceland). The crossing from Hirtshals to Tórshavn takes 38 hours in winter and 30 hours in summer; the onward leg to Seyðisfjörður takes a further 15 hours. The service runs weekly, with an additional departure from Hirtshals during the summer weeks. Passenger service to Iceland is suspended from mid-November to mid-March.

Built in Lübeck in 2003, the MS Norröna is the largest ferry in the Faroe Islands at 165 metres long and 30 metres wide. It has 318 passenger cabins and space for up to 1,482 passengers, plus 800 cars or 130 lorries/trailers.

Onboard facilities include restaurants, a swimming pool, a small cinema and a fitness centre. Three spacious hot tubs are heated with waste heat from the engine room. The previous Norröna (built in 1973) now sails under the name MV Logos Hope, a mission ship flying the Maltese flag.
