Tallink is an Estonian shipping company and the largest passenger and freight shipping company in the Baltic Sea. Silja Line's history dates back to the early 1900s, when a ferry service between Turku and Stockholm was established in 1918. In 2006, Tallink acquired Silja Line from Sea Containers for EUR 780 million.
Tallink Silja Line operates a modern fleet of 13 ships under the Tallink and Silja Line brands across five main routes in the northern Baltic Sea. The key connections run between Helsinki and Tallinn (about 2 hours 11 minutes crossing time), between Stockholm and Tallinn (overnight crossing, about 17 hours), and between Turku and Stockholm via the Åland Islands (about 10 hours). In total, 10 departures a day and 70 crossings a week are offered across 24 routes.
Key ships include the MS Megastar, which won the 2017 Shippax Technology and Design Award as the world's most advanced RoPax ferry, along with the MS Superstar, MS Galaxy and MS Baltic Princess. The Baltic Queen serves the Stockholm-Tallinn route every other day. In 2006, Tallink also acquired Superfast Ferries' Baltic Sea operations and opened a route between Riga and Stockholm.
Onboard, cabins in various categories, restaurants, bars, shops and entertainment are available. Cars and other vehicles can be carried on all routes. Tallink Silja Line connects Finland, Sweden, Estonia and Latvia, making it a major transport link for passengers and freight in the Baltic Sea region.
