Viking Line Abp is a Finnish shipping company headquartered in Mariehamn on the Åland Islands, whose history dates back to 1959. That year, shipping experts and businesspeople from the Åland Islands founded Rederi Ab Vikinglinjen. The company is listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.
Viking Line operates five ferries between Finland, Sweden, the Åland Islands and Estonia. The main routes connect Helsinki with Stockholm via the Åland Islands, Turku with Stockholm, and Helsinki with Tallinn. The fleet includes the M/S Viking Glory, which entered service on the Stockholm-Mariehamn-Turku route in March 2022, the M/S Viking Grace, the M/S Gabriella, the M/S Rosella and the M/S Viking XPRS for the Tallinn route.
The M/S Viking Grace is the most environmentally friendly ship on the Baltic Sea and runs entirely on sulphur-free liquefied natural gas (LNG). In February 2024, Viking Line signed a letter of intent with the ports of Stockholm and Turku to create a green maritime corridor between Turku and Stockholm, aiming for 100 percent carbon neutrality by 2035.
Viking Line operates six terminals: in Helsinki (Katajanokka), Turku (Linnansatama), Mariehamn (Västhamnen), Lumparland (Långnäs), Stockholm (Stadsgården) and Tallinn (A-Terminal). On board there are cabins, restaurants, shops and entertainment options. Cars and other vehicles can be brought along. In 2023, the company employed an average of 2,138 staff.
