Aegina ferry port lies on the west coast of the Saronic island of the same name, 18 nautical miles from Piraeus. It is one of the busiest berths in Greece: up to 128 departures a day, around 78 of them to Piraeus alone in about 45 minutes. Then there are the two berths on Agistri a quarter of an hour away, as well as Methana and Poros on the way to the Peloponnese. Seven operators call at the port, among them Aegean Flying Dolphins, Aegina Ferries and Anes Ferries.
Getting there and the terminal
The central port lies right by the island's main town. It is run by the Dimotiko Limeniko Tameio, the municipal port administration, based at Leoforos Dimokratias 31. The ticket office is staffed daily from 8:00 to 21:00 and the administration on weekdays from 7:00 to 16:00. The same body looks after the island's other ports: Souvala in the north, Agia Marina in the east and Perdika in the south. In the summer months ships from Piraeus also serve Souvala and Agia Marina, and if you have booked for one of those you will not arrive in the island's main town. A look at your ticket before you leave will save you a taxi ride right across the island.
Check-in
Hellenic Seaways, one of the operators on the Piraeus route, requires in its conditions of carriage that you be in the boarding area at least an hour before departure. The same hour applies to travellers with a vehicle.
