Town port

The ferry port lies 23 km from the town it is named after.

Terminals
DFDS Amsterdam (IJmuiden) terminal, Sluisplein 33, 1975 AG IJmuiden
Location
IJmuiden, Nordholland

Amsterdam ferry port is not in Amsterdam but in IJmuiden at the mouth of the North Sea Canal, around 23 kilometres west of the city centre. To reach the ship you therefore have to leave the city and head for the coast. From here you can reach Newcastle. A ferry leaves up to 2 times a day and the crossing takes around 15.75 hours. The port is served by DFDS.

Getting there and the terminal

The terminal is at Sluisplein 33 in 1975 AG IJmuiden. It has no rail connection; instead the DFDS transfer bus runs from central Amsterdam. If you come by car, you leave it in the fenced, camera-monitored car park right next to the terminal, which can be booked in advance.

Check-in

DFDS closes check-in 45 minutes before the scheduled departure, for vehicles and foot passengers alike. For the 17:30 sailing it opens at 13:00 and closes at 16:45. Vehicles with low ground clearance should be in IJmuiden by 15:30 at the latest.
