Balestrand ferry port is in Norway, on the Sognefjord. The berth lies in the Holmen district. From here you can reach 12 destinations, among them Bergen, Lavik and Leikanger. Together the services run up to 37 departures a day. Crossings take between 15 minutes and 4 hours. The port is served by Norled.
Getting there and the terminal
The express boats dock at Balestrand kai in the middle of the village. Norled runs them daily from Strandkaiterminalen in Bergen, calling at Vik, Leikanger and Aurland on the way; in summer the route continues to the quay in Flåm. If you arrive on foot you are therefore right in Balestrand and need no onward connection.
By car it is a different matter. The car ferry berth is not in the village but in Dragsvik, about ten kilometres from the centre of Balestrand. From there one ferry crosses to Vangsnes, with connections to Feios, Fresvik, Vik and over the Vikafjell to Voss; the other runs to Hella and Leikanger towards Sogndal. Allow for those ten kilometres in your arrival time, or you will end up at the wrong quay.
