Brindisi ferry port lies on the Adriatic coast of Apulia, on a natural bay reaching deep inland that has given the city its role as the gateway to the east since antiquity. From here you can reach Igoumenitsa, Vlora and Corfu. Together the services run up to 10 departures a day, and crossings take between 6 and 8 hours. The port is served by Grimaldi Lines and Starlines.
Getting there and the terminal
The ferries to Greece and Albania leave not from the old town waterfront but from the Costa Morena terminal in Contrada Pandi, east of the bay. By car you follow the SS16: from the south take the Lecce/Zona Industriale/Porto exit, from the north join the SS16 from the SS379 and then follow the Porto/Costa Morena/Grecia signs. Without a car, STP bus line AP takes you to the berth. It runs from the railway station to Costa Morena in 15 to 20 minutes and from Salento airport in 20 to 25 minutes; during the day the terminal is served every 30 minutes, while early in the morning and late in the evening the bus shuttles only between the airport and the station.
Check-in
Grimaldi Lines checks passengers in at its own desk in the passenger terminal and requires you to be there no later than two hours before departure. In high season the operator recommends three hours. Every traveller needs a valid identity document, children included.
