Catania ferry port lies on the east coast of Sicily, on the edge of the city centre. From here you can reach Valletta on Malta: up to 2 departures a day, with a crossing of around 4.25 hours. The route is served by Virtu Ferries.

Getting there and the terminal

Virtu Ferries gives its Catania check-in point as the Complesso Vecchia Dogana in the Porto di Catania, 95121 Catania. That is the old customs building on the port site itself, so not a remote terminal somewhere outside the city. The operator confirms that parking is available near the terminal but does not describe it further. If you are arriving in a hire car and want to leave it behind, it is worth clarifying this in advance.

Check-in

Virtu Ferries asks foot passengers to have checked in at the terminal one hour before the scheduled departure. With a vehicle it is an hour and a half. At busy times the operator explicitly advises arriving even earlier. Because the sailing to Malta crosses an international border, keep valid travel documents to hand.
