Caye Caulker ferry port serves the narrow coral island off the coast of Belize, with the barrier reef beyond it. From here you can reach Belize City, San Pedro on Ambergris Caye and Belize City international airport. Together the services run up to 67 departures a day. Crossings take between 30 minutes and 1.25 hours. The port is served by Belize Express Water Taxi and Caribbean Sprinter.
Getting there and the terminal
San Pedro Belize Express, as Belize Express Water Taxi calls itself, has its terminal on Avenida Hicaco opposite the police station. Nowhere is far from it: the island has three long streets, Front Street, Middle Street and Back Street, and you get around on foot or by bike. There are no cars, only the odd golf cart. So you do not need to plan a taxi to the berth, but you do need to allow for the walk if you are staying at the far end of the island.
Check-in
There is a firm deadline for luggage: it has to be handed to a uniformed member of the operator's staff no later than 15 minutes before departure. Beyond that, San Pedro Belize Express advises arriving early at the terminal and checking the weather and sea state before you sail.
