Location
Borgo Odescalchi, Civitavecchia, Roma Capitale, Latium

The Civitavecchia ferry port is in Lazio, with the landing point in the Borgo Odescalchi district. From here you can reach 10 destinations. Sardinia is the main business: Olbia (7.5 hours, up to 6 departures a day), Porto Torres (8 hours), Arbatax (9 hours) and Cagliari (15 hours). There are also connections to Bastia on Corsica (3.25 hours), Palermo and Termini Imerese on Sicily, and the long routes to Barcelona, Tunis and Tangier Med. Together the connections add up to as many as 24 departures a day, with crossings taking between 3.25 and 65.25 hours. The port is served by Cors'express, Grandi Navi Veloci, Grimaldi Lines and Tirrenia.

Getting there and the terminal

The ferries berth in the Nuova Darsena Traghetti at berths 29 to 34, with check-in at the ADM terminal (Autostrade del Mare), which has ticket counters, shops and a bar. Grimaldi Lines gives its address as Grimaldi Terminal Euromed, Via Prato del Turco 1. By car, you enter via the Varco Vespucci, the only gate for passenger vehicles; the Varco Nord is reserved for heavy goods traffic and service vehicles. On foot, you reach the port from Civitavecchia station via the Varco Fortezza, around 600 metres, with about a kilometre and a half more to the ADM terminal. If you're leaving your car behind, the Parcheggio Nord is the only car park on the port grounds: entry is also via the Varco Vespucci, it's chargeable, and there's a free shuttle to the berths.

Check-in

For the Sardinia routes, Grimaldi Lines requires you to report to the boarding gate at least two hours before departure; for Barcelona, it's also two hours, at the desk in the Autostrade del Mare terminal. For Tunis it's three hours, and boarding there ends one hour before departure. Arrive later and you forfeit your place.
