- Salimbey Mahallesi, Dikili, Izmir
Dikili ferry port lies on the Aegean coast of the Turkish province of Izmir, in the Salimbey Mahallesi district. From here you can reach Mytilene on Lesbos. A ferry leaves up to 2 times a day. The crossing takes around 45 minutes. The port is served by Ido.
Getting there and the terminal
The berth is on Atatürk Caddesi, the seafront road in Dikili, and so in the town itself. There is no detour to an industrial port outside town. The clearance offices are on the same street: the customs administration Dikili Gümrük Müdürlüğü gives its address as Salimbey Mah., Atatürk Cad. No. 4. That is not a side note, because Dikili is an official Turkish sea border crossing. The customs post was opened for lorry and ro-ro traffic in 2006 and handled passenger traffic to Lesbos from the start. The service lapsed for a time, but it has been running again for some years.
Because you are crossing the external border of the EU here, border and customs checks on both sides are part of the process. Allow time for that on top of boarding itself, and have your travel documents ready before you step up to the desk. How many minutes before departure the operator closes check-in is announced afresh each season: check it on your ticket shortly before you travel.
