The ferry port of Dubrovnik lies in the Gradski kotar Gruž district on the long bay north-west of the old town and is the most important point of call in the south of Croatia. From here you can reach 12 destinations, among them Korcula, Hvar and Milna, plus Split and the islands of Mljet, Sipan and Lastovo. Across the border you can reach Bari in Italy as well as Budva and Kotor in Montenegro. Together the services add up to as many as 49 departures a day, and crossings take between 45 minutes and 8 hours. 5 operators call at the port, among them Jadrolinija, Kompas and Krilo Kapetan Luka.

Getting there and the terminal

The passenger terminal is on Obala Pape Ivana Pavla II in Gruž. From there it is a 30- to 40-minute walk into the old town. The city buses take 10 to 15 minutes to the Pile gate, and a taxi 7 to 10 minutes depending on traffic.

Check-in

For lines with reservations, Jadrolinija says at least 45 minutes before departure. On lines without reservations you should allow one to two hours and, in high season, be at the desk earlier still. The catamarans to the islands leave on time, and there is not much slack left on the quay.
