The ferry port of Durres is in northern Albania on the Adriatic and is the country's most important passenger port. From here you can reach Bari and Ancona. Together the routes run up to 8 departures a day. Crossings take between 9.75 and 16 hours. The port is served by Adria Ferries, Grandi Navi Veloci and Ventouris Ferries.

Getting there and the terminal

The address of the port authority is Rruga Tregtare, Lagjja Nr. 1, in the middle of Durres. Three gates lead to the ferry terminal, and which one you take depends on how you arrive. Gate 3 is inside the building of Durres railway station: foot passengers go in here and continue over the footbridge to the terminal. Gate 4 at the Dajlani bridge is the gate for cars and lorries and the usual approach for travellers from Kosovo and North Macedonia; from the roundabout at the edge of town the "Port" sign marks the last 200 metres. Gate 2, opposite the state bank building, is used by everyone driving in from the districts of Durres. Passport and ticket have to be shown at every gate. Tirana airport is 25 kilometres away, 30 to 40 minutes on the SH2 expressway depending on traffic.

Check-in

Check-in takes place in the terminal building and is handled by the port agency. Adria Ferries closes it strictly one hour before scheduled departure; after that nothing can be done. The operator advises being at the port at least three hours before departure, because traffic backs up in front of the gates in summer.
