Location
Osborne, East Cowes, Isle of Wight, England

West Cowes lies on the north coast of the Isle of Wight, on the west bank of the Medina; East Cowes is opposite on the east bank, and a chain ferry links the two sides. The berth is a passenger-only port: Red Funnel runs the Red Jet from here up to 42 times a day to Southampton, around 30 minutes per crossing. The operator does not ship cars from here but from the terminal in East Cowes.

Getting there and the terminal

The Red Jet terminal stands at Fountain Yard in the middle of the town, postcode PO31 7AR. By car you come in on the A3020 from Newport, for which Red Funnel allows a quarter of an hour; from Ryde and Yarmouth the A3054 takes you to Newport first. Bus route 1 also runs frequently from Newport. Long-stay parking is on Park Road, Mornington Road and Brunswick Road, and short-stay parking on St Mary's Road, Cross Street, the Esplanade and The Parade; there is also a park and ride on the A3020 at Somerton. In Fountain Yard itself you may stop for only ten minutes, just long enough to drop off.

Check-in

For the Red Jet, Red Funnel asks you to be at the terminal at least 15 minutes before departure. A different rule applies to the car ferry from East Cowes: 30 minutes before departure there, but on peak days no earlier than 60 minutes.
