Town port
The ferry port lies 6 km from the town it is named after.
- Location
- Neufahrwasser, Danzig, Woiwodschaft Pommern
Gdansk ferry port lies on the Polish Baltic coast in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Important for getting there: the berth is not by the old town but around six kilometres north of it, in the harbour district of Nowy Port, known in German as Neufahrwasser, at the mouth of the Dead Vistula. Set your navigation to the city centre and you will end up at the wrong end of town. From here you can reach Nynäshamn, the ferry port south of Stockholm. It is the only connection bookable from Gdansk, and it does not run daily: on average a ship leaves on just under five days of the week, then up to 2 times a day. The crossing takes about 18 hours. This is an overnight sailing with a cabin, not a day crossing, and the night on board belongs in your travel planning. The port is served by POLSCA Baltic Ferries.
Plan the trip to the terminal separately from your journey to Gdansk, then. The main station, the old town and the ferry berth are not close together, and the last leg through the port area costs more time than the distance on the map suggests. Which berth in the port area applies to your sailing is stated on your ticket. Go by that, not by the place name.
