The ferry port of Gedser lies at the southern tip of the Danish island of Falster, at the country's southernmost point. From here you reach Rostock: a ferry leaves up to 18 times a day and the crossing takes around 2 hours. The port is served by Scandlines.

Getting there and the terminal

The port adjoins the town directly. For your sat nav, the address is Jernbanevejen 1, 4874 Gedser. Foot passengers go to the gangway building, collect their boarding card from the machine there and scan it at the entrance to the access bridge; from the hall to the bridge is a five to ten minute walk. Cyclists also report to the gangway building, wait at the bicycle entrance and roll on board at the same point as the cars.

Check-in

Scandlines closes check-in for cars, caravans, motorhomes and motorcycles 15 minutes before the scheduled departure and recommends being at the port at least 30 minutes beforehand; it opens two hours before departure. The same deadline applies to foot passengers and cyclists: you have to be at the access bridge no later than 15 minutes before departure. Anyone who needs help boarding should be there 30 minutes before departure and follow the yellow lane.
