Gold Coast Bengkong ferry port lies on the Indonesian island of Batam. From here you can reach the HarbourFront Centre in Singapore. A ferry leaves up to 7 times a day. The crossing takes around an hour. The port is served by Batam Fast Ferry and Sindo Ferry.
Getting there and the terminal
The Gold Coast International Ferry Terminal lies in the Bengkong district in the north of Batam, at Kawasan Pantai Indah Mutiara Blok B 36-37. It is an international border crossing with its own passport control, waiting hall and baggage handling, open daily from 6am to 8pm. Besides Singapore, boats also run from here to Stulang Laut in Johor Bahru in Malaysia. Cafés, restaurants and hotels are a few minutes from the terminal.
Check-in
Batam Fast Ferry requires you to be at the gate to border control no later than 30 minutes before departure; otherwise your seat reservation lapses. You can book online up to one hour before departure. Because check-in, baggage drop-off and border formalities take time, the operator advises being at the terminal an hour beforehand. A passport is required on this route in any case.
