The ferry port of Gozo is called Mġarr and is the island's only one. From here you can reach Valletta, with a ferry leaving up to 31 times a day. The crossing takes around 45 minutes. The service is operated by Virtu Ferries, which runs it under the name Gozo Highspeed. The car ferry to Ċirkewwa in the north of Malta leaves from the same port, up to every 30 minutes during the day and with a crossing of around 25 minutes.

Getting there and the terminal

Mġarr is linked to Victoria, the main town of Gozo, by bus route 301; it runs every 30 minutes, which makes it the most frequent route on the island. Tickets for the fast ferry are sold at the desks in the port of Mġarr and in Valletta, and otherwise online. Both terminals are set up for travellers with disabilities, and staff help with getting on and off.

Check-in

For the fast ferry to Valletta the Gozo tourism authority recommends checking in 15 to 20 minutes before departure. That is all it takes, because the catamarans carry passengers; bicycles and e-scooters travel free of charge. If you want to take a car across to Malta, use the ferry to Ċirkewwa from the same port.
