Granville ferry port lies on the west coast of Normandy in the Manche department. From here you can reach Jersey. A ferry leaves up to 2 times a day, though not on every day of the week. The crossing takes around 1.25 hours. The port is served by Manche Iles Express, which also calls at Guernsey, Sark and Alderney from Granville.
Getting there and the terminal
Departures are from the Gare maritime, 1 rue des Isles, 50400 Granville. If you come by car, leave it behind: Manche Iles Express runs passenger-only vessels, and vehicles stay in Granville. The operator points out that you can park in front of the terminal free of charge for as long as spaces are available. The same applies at its two other Norman departure ports, Carteret and Diélette.
Check-in
Manche Iles Express asks you to be at the terminal at least 90 minutes before the scheduled departure. Anyone arriving less than 40 minutes beforehand will not be let on board, and with no right to a replacement. The buffer is not there for its own sake: Jersey belongs neither to the United Kingdom nor to the EU, so you need your travel documents to hand at check-in.
