- Pelabuhan Gresik, Jalan Yos Sudarso 36, Kelurahan Kebungson
Gresik ferry port lies on the north coast of Java in Indonesia, north-west of Surabaya. From here you can reach Bawean Island, which lies around 135 kilometres further north in the Java Sea. A ferry leaves up to 2 times a day. The crossing takes around 3 hours. The port is served by Express Bahari.
Getting there and the terminal
The port lies in the middle of the town, at Jalan Yos Sudarso 36 in the Kebungson kelurahan. From Surabaya, minibuses run to Gresik from the Pasar Turi area, spread across the whole day and into the night. Bawean is not reachable via Gresik alone: the port of Paciran further west along the Java coast is also used for the crossing. So check before you set off which port of departure is on your ticket.
The type of vessel makes a difference too. The port is run by Pelindo, and the ferry service to Bawean by the state-owned ASDP Indonesia Ferry with one departure a day; its vehicle ferry takes around four hours depending on the weather. The Express Bahari fast boat shown in the timetable on this page covers the route more quickly but does not carry cars.
