The ferry port of Grisslehamn lies on the Sea of Åland in the Swedish municipality of Norrtälje. It offers the shortest route across the Åland Sea: Eckerö Linjen takes you to Eckerö on Åland up to 6 times a day, and the crossing takes around 2 hours. No other destinations are served, so the port lives entirely off this one route.
Getting there and the terminal
The terminal is at Skatuddsvägen 10 on the edge of Grisslehamn. Without your own car you can get here on the connecting coach: it runs from Stockholm Cityterminalen and stops at Danderyd, at Roslags-Näsby station and at the Brottby trafikplats rest area, among others. The coach has to be booked together with the ferry ticket; there is no provision for travelling without a reservation. The terminal has paid parking spaces for cars and motorhomes, payable by card, SMS or app. Motorhomes may only stand there on the day of their own crossing.
Check-in
The check-in machines in the terminal open 2 hours before departure. Check-in closes 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Even so, Eckerö Linjen asks you to be at the port 45 minutes beforehand from June to August, and 30 minutes beforehand for the rest of the year.
