Gare maritime Port-Tudy, 56590 Ile de Groix (BreizhGo Oceane)
Location
Groix, Morbihan

Groix is the ferry port of the island of the same name off the south coast of Brittany, in the Morbihan department. Vessels tie up at Port-Tudy on the north coast, the island's main harbour. From here you can reach Lorient on the mainland: up to 16 times a day, around 45 minutes per crossing, operated by BreizhGo Océane.

Getting there and the terminal

The Gare maritime stands right at Port-Tudy, address Port Tudy, 56590 Île de Groix. It is staffed all year, but only opens 30 minutes before each departure and stays closed over midday and after the last sailing of the day. Inside there is a modern waiting room with seating, and the boarding area is covered, giving shelter from rain and heat alike. The main village, Le Bourg, lies above the harbour, and the way there is uphill from the quay.

Check-in

BreizhGo Océane staggers the lead time by mode of transport: vehicles 45 minutes before the announced departure, foot passengers 20 minutes. Because the Gare maritime only unlocks half an hour before departure, arriving by car means queuing more or less as it opens. Bear that in mind if you still have something planned on the island on your last day.
