- Hamilton Island Marina; Gegenstueck Maritime Terminal, 24 The Cove Road, Port of Airlie
The ferry port of Hamilton Island Marina is on Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays off the coast of Queensland. From here you can reach three destinations: Airlie Beach on the mainland, Shute Harbour and Daydream Island. Together the routes run up to 35 departures a day. Crossings take between 30 and 75 minutes. The port is served by Cruise Whitsundays.
Getting there and the terminal
Ferries berth at the marina of Hamilton Island, the centre of the island; the island airport is called at separately by the same boats. You do not need a car of your own, and you could not bring one aboard anyway: on Hamilton Island you travel by free island shuttle or hire a golf buggy, and transfers between marina and accommodation are free. The counterpart on the mainland is the Maritime Terminal at the Port of Airlie, 24 The Cove Road in Airlie Beach; parking there is limited.
Check-in
For its island transfers Cruise Whitsundays asks you to check in 30 minutes before departure. Baggage check-in closes 15 minutes before departure, and boarding ends five minutes before departure. Hamilton Island itself also advises half an hour's lead time, because ticketing, parking, baggage drop and boarding add up.
