- Location
- Hœdic, Morbihan
The ferry port of Hœdic serves the island of the same name in the Breton département of Morbihan. Ships run from here to the neighbouring island of Houat and on to Quiberon on the mainland. Both routes operate seven days a week and together add up to as many as 18 departures a day. The crossing takes 30 minutes to Houat and 1.25 hours to Quiberon: of the two islands off the Quiberon peninsula, Hœdic lies considerably further out. The port is served by Breizhgo Oceane.
Getting there and the terminal
Hœdic has two harbours: Port d'Argol in the north, where the scheduled ships tie up, and Port de la Croix in the south, which is reserved for fishing boats and yachts. Ships from Quiberon call at Houat first on the way, so Hœdic is the second stop.
You do not need a car here, and you could not bring one anyway: the island measures 2.5 kilometres in length and one kilometre in width, and the coastal path around it is about 8 kilometres long. From the berth, Hœdic opens up on foot. If you want to shuttle between the harbour and the beaches several times, take a bicycle. Allow around forty minutes to cross the island from one end to the other.
