Ferries to Kalundborg

The ferry port of Kalundborg lies on Zealand in Denmark. From here you reach Ballen on Samsø. The timetable lists up to 6 departures a day and the crossing takes around 1.25 hours. The port is served by SamsøLinjen.

Getting there and the terminal

The SamsøLinjen terminal is at Østre Havnevej 6 in 4400 Kalundborg. As a foot passenger you do not need a desk: at the machine in the port you buy your ticket, check in or extend a travel or commuter card. If you booked in advance, you type in your booking or phone number or scan the barcode on the confirmation, and the machine prints your boarding card.

Check-in

SamsøLinjen runs a tight schedule and correspondingly asks for little lead time: with a standard ticket for a car, motorcycle, moped or bicycle, or as a foot passenger, you have to be checked in 10 minutes before the scheduled departure. Miss the deadline and you lose your reserved space, which on a well-booked crossing can mean waiting for the next departure.

If you travel on foot with a disability or have difficulty walking, a different rule applies: then you check in 30 minutes before departure and call the operator no later than 48 hours before travelling, so that assistance on board can be arranged.
