Kea's ferry port lies in Korissia on the bay of Agios Nikolaos, one of the largest natural harbours in the Mediterranean. Kea is the Cycladic island closest to Athens, and Lavrio is accordingly the most important connection: up to four departures a day, one hour's sailing time. Add to that Kythnos, Syros and other islands of the Cyclades, twelve destinations in all and up to 17 departures a day. Crossings take between one hour and 15.5 hours. The port is served by Hellenic Seaways and Triton Ferries.
Getting there and the terminal
Korissia has no terminal building in the usual sense: the ships tie up at the mole, shops, tavernas and cafés stand immediately behind, and a sandy beach is part of the harbour area. The port administration is staffed daily from 08:00 to 13:00 and from 17:00 to 22:00. The Stegadi shipping agency, through which Triton Ferries handles its business on Kea, is also at the harbour. The main village, Ioulida, is not on the water but inland, above the bay.
Check-in
Triton Ferries requires you to be in the boarding area at least one hour before departure, on foot as well as with a vehicle. Drivers take their car on board themselves, and passengers get out beforehand.
