Kissamos ferry port lies at Cape Kavonisi in the far west of Crete, which makes it the island's westernmost port. It is Crete's sea link to the Peloponnese: from here you can reach Antikythera in 1.75 hours, Kythira in 3.5 hours, Gythio on the Peloponnese in 6.25 hours and Piraeus in 10.5 hours. Together the services run up to 8 departures a day. The port is served by SeaJets. The frequency is modest: Kythira is called at on around three days a week, Antikythera on just under three, Gythio on a good two and Piraeus on only one to two.

Getting there and the terminal

The berth is at Kavonisi outside the town of Kissamos, not on the town promenade. At the port there are the port authority, customs, water, electricity, fuel and tavernas. Buses and taxis serve it: the KTEL Chania intercity bus lists Kissamos Port as a destination in its own right, not just the town of Kissamos. Watch for that difference when buying your ticket, or the bus journey will end in the town instead of at the quay. It is 56 kilometres from Chania airport to the quay.
