The ferry port of Klaipeda is Lithuania's most important seaport and lies at the entrance to the Curonian Lagoon. From here you can reach 5 destinations, among them Karlshamn, Trelleborg and Kiel. Together the services add up to as many as 15 departures a day. Crossings take between 14 and 28.25 hours. The port is served by DFDS and TT-Line.
Getting there and the terminal
The DFDS ferries leave from the Central Klaipeda Terminal. From Vilnius and Kaunas you take the A1 to Klaipeda and then the second exit at the roundabout; the terminal lies at the end of Baltijos prospektas. Coming from Palanga you join the A1 via the A13 and take the second exit at each of the following roundabouts. From Klaipeda main station the bus takes about 30 minutes to the terminal. There is a chargeable car park at the terminal, by the hour or by the day. If you arrive with a vehicle you drive straight to the check-in gate; foot passengers check in inside the terminal building.
Check-in
At DFDS, check-in on all routes from Klaipeda closes 90 minutes before departure, considerably earlier than is usual on short Baltic routes. For Karlshamn and Kiel it opens three hours before departure.
