- Jetty Kuala Besut, Terengganu
Kuala Besut Jetty ferry port is in Terengganu on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula and is the regular way in to the Perhentian Islands. From here you can reach 6 destinations, among them Long Beach, Coral Bay and Fisherman Village. Together the services run up to 180 departures a day. Crossings take between 30 and 45 minutes. The port is served by Perhentian Boat Services and Perhentian Sunny Travel.
Getting there and the terminal
From Kota Bharu airport it is about an hour by taxi. Long-distance coaches stop at the bridge in Kuala Besut, from where it is around ten minutes on foot to the jetty. If you come in your own car, you can leave it at the jetty by the day. The speedboats run roughly hourly between 8:00 and 17:00; miss the last boat of the day and you will be spending the night in Kuala Besut.
Check-in
Passengers are handled in the terminal at the jetty, in two steps. At the boat operators' desk you collect your ticket, and at the marine park desk you pay the conservation fee for the Taman Laut Pulau Perhentian. Without that receipt you will not be allowed on board. It is valid for three days, and you should keep it as proof during that time. The fee is collected by the fisheries department or, on its behalf, by boat, diving and accommodation businesses.
