Kythnos ferry port is at Merichas on the west coast of the Cycladic island, in a sheltered bay. The berth is the first stop on the western Cyclades line and at the same time within reach of Attica. From here you can reach 15 destinations, among them Serifos and Lavrio in 1.25 hours each, Piraeus and Kea in an hour and a half, plus Sifnos, Milos and Kimolos. Together the services run up to 31 departures a day, and crossings take between 1.25 and 11 hours. The port is served by Hellenic Seaways, Magic Sea Ferries, SeaJets and Triton Ferries.
Getting there and the terminal
Merichas is the island's only ferry port; the municipality lists it as the main harbour where the scheduled ships tie up. One point that matters for planning: the two main villages, Chora and Dryopida, are inland, not on the water. If you have booked accommodation there, you will need onward transport from the quay. According to the municipality there are daily connections to the mainland, to Piraeus and to Lavrio.
