The ferry port of La Ceiba in Honduras is the starting point for the Islas de la Bahía offshore. From here you can reach Roatan in 1.25 hours and Utila in an hour, both islands daily. Together the routes run up to 12 departures a day. The port is served by Dream Ferries and Safe Way Maritime.
Getting there and the terminal
The berth is not in the city centre but in the east of La Ceiba. Safe Way Maritime, which operates the Galaxy Wave to Roatan, has its terminal there right next to the municipal berths, the Muelle de Cabotaje. If you come by hire car and leave the vehicle on the mainland, you park free of charge at the terminal. Dream Ferries sails to Utila on its own timetable. Before you set off, check which of the two operators issued your ticket, and follow their instructions on where to check in. There are twice as many departures to Roatan as to Utila, but both islands are served daily. The timetable below shows which departure runs on your travel date.
