The ferry port of Långnäs lies in the Åland Islands in Finland, in the municipality of Lumparland around 30 kilometres from Mariehamn. From here you can reach 4 destinations, among them Kapellskär, Naantali and Stockholm. Together the services add up to as many as 16 departures a day. Crossings take between 3.5 and 6.25 hours. The port is served by Finnlines, Tallink & Silja Line and Viking Line. For many travellers Långnäs is not a destination but the stop where ships between Finland and Sweden call at Åland.

Getting there and the terminal

The terminal is on Långnäsvägen in Lumparland, and the port company Långnäs Hamn Ab has its office right beside the terminal building. By car, reckon on about half an hour from Mariehamn for the 30 kilometres. Tallink signposts free parking at the terminal, and the bus and taxi stops are there as well. Taxis between Mariehamn and Långnäs can be ordered for evening departures through the information desk on board or when booking.

Expect much of this to happen at night: the passenger terminal is open every night from 23:30 to 04:00, on weekdays additionally from 09:00 to 16:00, and on Saturdays and public holidays from 13:00 to 15:30.

Check-in

Tallink closes check-in at Långnäs 30 minutes before departure for foot passengers and 45 minutes before departure for passengers with a vehicle. Check-in is only staffed while the ships are arriving and departing, so do not plan on waiting in the terminal. For the short night-time stops you should be at the exit, or on the car deck, ten minutes before arrival.
